DEPARTMENT OF DEFENSE
The Department of Defense's Defense Experimental Program to Stimulate Competitive Research (DEPSCoR) is administered cooperatively with the Army Research Office (ARO), the Office of Naval Research (ONR), and the Air force Office of Scientific Research (AFOSR), the Ballistic Missile Defense Organization (BMDO), and the Defense Advance Research Projects Agency (DARPA). DEPSCoR is designed to improve capabilities of universities in EPSCoR states to conduct research and educate researchers in areas important to national defense. Nebraska had one of the 31 projects selected for DEPSCoR funding in 2003 and has received over $12.7 million in DEPSCoR funds since 1991.
